What people have said about Alyn.

Alyn Haskey - A brilliant, original storywriter who relates his episodes in an imaginative way to all the children. He teases. He jokes, he sometimes frightens, he keeps up the suspense - all the ingredients children like in a tale.

Jim Price. Old Basford Primary School, Nottingham.

Alyn really makes our juniors realise how lucky they are to have their mobility. He’s a rare asset, but don’t let him start talking about football!!

Ken Smale, Chapel Hill Primary School, Braintree, Essex.

Alyn Haskey’s visits to St Michaels’s School are always well received by pupils and staff. His rapport with our junior children at their assemblies has been excellent; his experiences, attitudes and story telling make a real impact

Alyn has become a ‘friend’ to the school by his input in assemblies, his involvement with the whole school, and the sharing faith that is both real and relevant.

Pupils at Huxlow, Upper School, Northants.

Alyn’s visits to the school are awaited eagerly by the children, he relates so well and provides such a positive role model for the children. I cannot praise too highly the valuable contribution he has made to our whole curriculum.... an opportunity not to be missed!

Steve Clarke, Jesse Boot Primary School, Nottingham.

Alyn Haskey provided a unique experience for staff and students when he arrived at Lacon Childe School. A complete range of students had the opportunity to be held spellbound by his stories and poems. This would have been valuable enough but the occasion was further enriched by Alyn’s good humoured, honest responses to questions asked him in open forum. His philosophy to life, his courage and determination certainly touched all his listeners and left us inspired.

John Sullivan, Lacon Childe School, Kidderminster.

I feel that there is room for Mr Haskey’s presentation in all areas of the curriculum, whether in middle, junior or secondary school. I hope you will be able to experience his great work with your pupils at the next opportunity.

Very few people will meet a more remarkable man than Alyn. A humbling and inspirational experience for staff and pupils alike.

Stewart Collins, Social Ed / R. E. Teacher Chilton Trinity School, Bridgwater, Somerset.

Alyn made a tremendous impact on both staff and students when he first visited Chilton Trinity in 1998 and has been a popular and eagerly awaited annual visitor ever since.

He has a great sense humour and wonderful gift for communicating with all ages and abilities. He touches people's hearts and holds his audiences in the palm of his hand.

During a year 10 assembly on his last visit I was incredibly moved by the shinning rapt expression on a 15 year old lads face as he hung on Alyn's every

Word. Afterwards when I asked him what he thought of Alyn's talk, he replied

"It was brilliant Miss, he really makes me feel that I can do things in my life too"

He then added eagerly " Do you know I still remember what he said last year about…" This was from a low achiever who often can't remember what he was told yesterday!

Alyn leaves an indelible mark on the lives of all who are privileged to hear his testimony. We have been truly blessed by his visits and we long for the next.

Brenda Smith, Year 10 Tutor, Chilton Trinity School, Bridgwater, Somerset.

Through his engaging personality, wonderful sense of humour and an openness and honesty about life and his disability, Alyn speaks powerfully of the difference knowing Jesus has made to him in his life and the freedom it gives him.  He wants everyone else to experience it too.

Alyn was greatly appreciated by everyone who met and heard him at a Breakfast and at services when he was with us for a weekend.  His poems are deeply moving and thought provoking; his life and work are an encouragement to everyone else – he has achieved so much and he does so much – what about us?

Geoff Davis Vicar of St Peter's Church, Boughton Monchelsea

No one would have believed it; one small hunched up person, whose condition gave him a slight speech impediment, holding 1500 people in a large hall completely enthralled - but it happened. They listened spell bound; they laughed until it hurt; they listened in profound silence, and they wept, as they understood afresh the grace of God and His goodness to them. No one will ever forget that evening. Nor will they ever forget his closing words " What's your excuse?" He's definitely coming back to Detling and we commend him to any other festival as a preacher of the highest calibre.'

When it comes to sharing what Christianity is all about, Alyn Haskey is the real thing! Whether he is speaking to adults, children, the able-bodied or those who, like himself, struggle with disability, Alyn communicates his faith in an exceptional way. I commend his work and speaking unreservedly."

Canon Ian Knox ‘40.3 Trust’

"Alyn Haskey is truly one in a million. He is a creative communicator of the Good News, seasoned with a good dose of humour. His enthusiasm is truly contagious" Canon J. John

"Alyn doesn't just speak the Gospel, he lives and shows it by who he is.  Alyn is a gifted evangelist, teacher, poet and storyteller.  As someone who has had the opportunity to work alongside Alyn in mission and ministry over nearly 20 years, I warmly recommend him to all."

Rev. David Rowe, vicar, Wilford Church, Nottingham

Lots of good feedback from your preach last week, which I thought used the text well, was applied well and had a simple clear message, which supported all that has been said over the past term. Thank you.

Trevor Hatton. Rector St Nicholas Nottingham.

Dear Alyn

Thank you so much for today. The children respond so well to you and they learn so much about faith and disability. I am very grateful to you for the impact you have here.

I think the work you do in our school is some of the most significant work we do to raise awareness of disability issues.  I feel for many of our pupils the stories you tell them and the way you are with them will influence them for life. The children remember your stories and discuss them long after you have left us. You also fascinate them with your trust and faith in God. They see you as one of our special friends and they think highly of you.
